Si le das un pez a un hombre le quitas el hambre un dia, si le enseñas a pescar sustentablemente, se la quitas para siempre...
(If you give a man a fish, you take away his hunger one day... if you teach him to fish sustainably, you take away his hunger forever...)

Improvement of rural housing

In working rural towns, most families suffer extreme poverty conditions characterized among other things by not having a healthy home. Most of these families cook with wood which means to breathe smoke for more than 10 hours a day,.  There have been found at least 14 carcinogens substances in this gases. In addition to this, they have no adequate excreta disposal, usually they go to the bathroom outdoors despite all the known consequences may cause. Among the consequences we have the spread of gastrointestinal diseases and soil and water contamination. Their houses are made of unjointed wood, where the cold and mosquitoes easily get in  and it’s really hard to sleep.

This program supports families to gradually improve these conditions by implementing Tonacalli saving stoves, composting toilets, plastered walls, etc..
