Si le das un pez a un hombre le quitas el hambre un dia, si le enseñas a pescar sustentablemente, se la quitas para siempre...
(If you give a man a fish, you take away his hunger one day... if you teach him to fish sustainably, you take away his hunger forever...)

Improving the production unit

If you work the land for food is a very hard task. To do it in extreme poverty is even more. Thousands of families perform this task daily in the worst conditions imaginable. Their animals do not have fences, sleep outdoors tied to a bush and have parasites. This results in larger losses of food, and work time, because they are unprofitable and most of the time, barely recover the investment.

Agricultural fields are sterilized in a superlative degree, partly because of the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and part because we have lost the habit of returning to land which has been taken from it. Consequently, crops are lost and land degradation is increasing no to mention the decrease in biotic wealth.

Most farmers practice monoculture, therefore risking the whole harvesting to adverse weather conditions and pests. Some pests create resistance to chemicals, forcing producers to increase the quantity of pesticides, escalating the destructive power and the price making it in to a vicious circle that never ends.

This program and support for producers to improve their facilities, implement new crops, using organic fertilizers and biological pest control, implement soil conservation techniques, planting firewood forests and gardens, as well as  implementing new  technologies such as biogas digesters, greenhouses, fish ponds, etc..
